Why do they cheer?

There was a lot of tension building within the world of the World Wrestling Xistence as Aftershock drew closer by the day; and to add to the anticipation, the James Ranger Invitational was nearing its end. After a number of contests and contraversial decisions made to determine who would advance in the tournament eight men had been selected. 

It was because of this that the World Wrestling Xistence's Board of Directors decided to schedule an Xcess event in the Cajun Dome to hear from the competitors before they compete, once again, for the opportunity to become the number one contender for Krimzon Blaze's IWA Heavyweight Title. 

Plenty of fans made the trip out to the Cajun Dome to hear what the superstars had to say about getting this far in the tournament. However many of them were surprised to see only one superstar present at the event.

The setup for the Xcess event was no different than it had been in the past. The stage was in place as it normally was, the ring was set up with a crowd barrier surrounding it, and the announce tables were in their appropriate positions. However the usual ringside employees the WWX had were not present. There were no commentators, no cameramen, and no ring announcers. The only person in the ring was the Great Destroyer, Apocalypse. 

The blood red light covered him as his massive figure inhabited the ring. His head was down and he allowed his hair to hang. He had a microphone in his hand.

"Last week the WWX got a glimpse of what it is that I am capable of doing to another human being," Apocalypse uttered. "Sucio and Lipton thought that they were strong enough to overcome the awesome might of the Great Destroyer. But as we all have seen it is obvious they were not. Instead of tasting the lush sweetness of victory they drowned in the bitterness of wrath. And all the while the WWX Universe cheered as they watched me dismantle two of the WWX's best wrestlers. Why did they cheer? Why do you all continue to praise me?"

The crowd responded to Apocalypse's question not with words, but with even more praise and approval. The leagues of people throughout the arena were jumping with joy and glee as Apocalypse addressed them.

"It's because I am UNSTOPPABLE!" Apocalypse yelled as he flung his head up and his hair flew backwards. "It's because I give you a ruler who doesn't just settle for defeating his adversary. He makes sure they are broken beyond all repair and are unable to oppose him any longer. I bring peace and serenity to the WWX."

The crowd continued to rave on as the Dark Lord of the WWX addressed them.

"I know there are those of you who doubt me," Apocalypse spoke through a smirk. "Plenty of you would rather side with guys like the Apostle, Sucio, or even...that dillusional cynic you call Tommy Lipton."

There were small clusters throughout the crowd who cheered when they heard the names of those being listed. However a large majority of the WWX Universe sided with the Great Destroyer.

"They would like to think that each and every one of you stand behind them in every single thing that they do," Apocalypse said. "But you all would rather stand by a leader who doesn't just claim to be unstoppable, but proves it every single day."

The majority of the crowd simultaneously chanted "Yes" in response to the statement the Great Destroyer had just made, even though Apocalypse wasn't directly asking them.

"I know that anyone who has ever attended a WWX live event would love to discard these men and abandon them like you would a bastard child," Apocalypse snarled. "None of them are as strong as I am, none of them are as demented as I am, and none of them are as willing to make the necessary sacrifices in order to find success. That is why I will be walking out of Fury one step closer towards getting the chance to annihilate Krimzon Blaze and take back the IWA Heavyweight title. Then I will lead the World Wrestling Xistence to a place of dominance never seen before."

The crowd erupted into a volley of cheers and frantically applauded as the Great Destroyer proclaimed that he would be the next IWA World Champion.    

"I am the Dark Lord of the WWX," Apocalypse said. "And as long as I continue to exist there there will never be a ruler as dominant as I am."
