New York, New York
University Medical Center
[It had been a day removed since Darkness became a three time WWX Television champion and advance into the finals of the James Ranger Invitational. Darkness had been in an intense battle with one of WWX's up and coming stars, Echo Stevens. It was a match where Echo Stevens was trying to make a name for himself and where Darkness was trying to cement his legacy in WWX history. Although the latter happened last night everybody knows Echo Stevens raised some eyebrows last night.]
[Darkness had managed to catch a midnight flight to New York to meet up with good friend Tommy Lipton. He knew Tommy would be back since Tommy was always scheduled to come back to the University Medical Center after every show for evaluation. Ever since the match at Hall of Pain this has become Tommy's second home. Darkness was here to discuss the up coming Fury card and the possibility of him and Tommy meeting in the finals of the James Ranger Invitational.]
Darkness: Man, this place is like a ghost town. Wonder where everybody is at?
Voice: It's a really slow day so some are on lunch and others took some personal time to themselves.
[Darkness turns around to see Dr. Crowder standing behind him. Dr. Crowder stood there holding about two or three patient's chart with pen in hand checking off items as he answered Darkness' question.]
Darkness: So is Tommy around?
Dr. Crowder: He is down in his room packing. He gets to leave tomorrow.
Darkness: Leave... What about his memory loss and head injury?
Dr. Crowder: Well, his head injury has healed and as for his memory loss, we have done all we can do here. The rest will be up to him. Now if you will excuse me I have some paper work that needs to be finished.
[Darkness proceeds down the hallway to the all to familiar room 218. A room that has been implanted in his and Tommy's brain since Hall of Pain. A place that neither man wanted to stay but for Tommy leaving wasn't an option until today. Darkness finished the brisk walk down the hallway to room 218
where he found the door wide open and proceeded to enter.]
Darkness: Need any help?
[Tommy looks up from packing a suit case to see Darkness standing in the doorway.]
Tommy: Your a little late for that. I was so ready to go that I started packing right away.
Darkness: I can see that.
[Darkness looked over at the hospital bed that had three suitcases on it along with Tommy's Toronto Maple Leaf's jersey. There was a reason Tommy hadn't packed the jersey.]
Darkness: I see you didn't pack your jersey.
Tommy: Sure didn't. I've got tickets to the game on next week. I like to call the tickets a going home present for myself but I know your not here for chit chat or to hep me pack so what is on your mind?
Darkness: It's this Fatal Four Way match on Fury. I'm really not worried about Max Siegel nor Lance Invictus, although I do believe Lance will bring what he thinks is his best.
Tommy: So that just leave one person... Gunnar.
[Darkness nods his head in agreement as Tommy continues to pack away.]
Darkness: I just don't get which direction he is coming from now. What is his angle since the Firm disbanded.
Tommy: The Firm... ah yes I researched them a little. From what I got out of the research Gunnar was a determined guy and still is from what I've seen of his recent matches. When he puts his mind on doing something he will stop at nothing to get it done.
Darkness: That's what I'm afraid of. The fact that he will do almost anything to get this win and move on.
Tommy: This is true, although from what I'm seeing from him now he is a changed man from what he use to be in the Firm. Through my research the Firm was about cheating their way to the top and Gunnar is not about that any more.
Darkness: I understand the act that now he is trying to earn everything the right way, with respect, but how do I know that I can trust him after everything he did in the Firm.
[Tommy stops what he is doing and turns looking straight at Darkness.]
Tommy: Just remember Darkness you trusted me after all that happened at Hall of Pain, not to mention what happened before that I still can't remember. You have to trust me when I say my instincts are right and Gunnar will do the right thing in this match.
Darkness: I just don't know Tommy. My instincts are telling me otherwise.
Tommy: Just remember what you told me a few weeks ago.
[Tommy turns back to his suitcase and begins packing again as Darkness thinks for a few seconds before answering.]
Darkness: Blood is thicker than water.
Tommy: Exactly.
